I was born and have lived
in the San Antonio area my entire life. I have always been interested in science and technology in
some form or another. A list of some of my previous jobs shows a broad range of experience in many fields.
These include being a maintenance worker in a nursing home, a zookeeper, a painter, a bird of prey trainer,
a veterinary assistant, a research assistant in physiology, a science puzzle magazine creator/publisher, a high school science
teacher, a technical trainer in the semiconductor industry, a physics and math instructor, and now a science/math tutor.
My wife and I have have one child, who is a graduate of the School of Architecture
at The University of Texas. We enjoy our country home located about 20 miles southeast of San Antonio.
Some of my interests/activities include gardening, raising Boer goats and hiking/camping whenever
we can get away. I also devote a good deal of time studying topics in advanced physics.
My qualifications include the life experiences mentioned above plus a very strong background in science and math.
These include a Bachelors Degree in Biology, a Secondary Composite Science Certification, and also a Master’s
Degree in Physics. I especially feel that my experience as a high school science teacher and a Technical
Trainer in the semiconductor industry enhances my ability to relate information in a more meaningful and productive way
to my clients. Tutoring all high school science and math and many of these courses in college keeps me sharp and aware
of what’s going in many diverse fields of study. I always look forward to
bringing my students a gift of knowledge and experience that they can take with them, beyond the course they
are taking at the moment. I aim to help them become more independent thinkers and better
problem solvers. Of course for my own benefit, I get compensation, new experiences and a deep satisfaction
that I did something very worthwhile. I tutor because I truly love it and I hope that my clients become educationally
and intellectually empowered by the experience.
